Licensing & Subscription FAQs

  • A: No. Each device requires its own subscription, even under the same Google account. This ensures reliable performance and fair-use licensing across fleets and teams.

  • A: On your old device, go to Settings → Deactivate this device, then install ViewDrive on your new device using the same Google account. Reactivate your subscription, and you’re ready to go.

  • A: Yes. Fleet and business pricing is available for operators managing 10 or more devices. Email info@viewdrive.appfor details on volume discounts and per-device licensing.

  • A: All subscriptions are managed through Google Play under your Google account. Billing, renewal, and cancellation follow Google’s subscription terms and payment policies.

  • A: If your subscription expires or is cancelled, Pro features will be paused until it’s reactivated. Your recorded files remain accessible on your device.

Hardware & Setup FAQs

  • A: The Samsung Galaxy S23 series is our currently approved and recommended device. It has been fully tested for dual-camera Picture-in-Picture recording, live telemetry overlays, and stable WiFi file transfers during extended sessions.

    Other Android models may work but are not officially supported. Performance may vary in terms of heat management, recording stability, and encoding performance.

  • A: Approved devices have been tested for thermal management, camera stability, and processing speed required for dual-camera Picture-in-Picture recording and real-time overlays. These phones maintain consistent frame rates and prevent overheating during long recordings.

    Unsupported devices may experience dropped frames, camera errors, or slower file exports — which is why we recommend sticking to approved models.

  • A: Yes, refurbished Samsung Galaxy S23 devices work perfectly as long as they are in good condition and updated to the latest Android version. This can significantly reduce your setup cost while maintaining full performance.

  • A: Not yet. ViewDrive is currently available for Android devices only. Our team is exploring an iOS version, but due to Apple’s camera access restrictions, we’re focusing on delivering the best possible performance and reliability on Android first. Updates on iOS availability will be shared via our website and social channels. ViewDrive launches soon — register to be notified.

  • A: It depends on how you operate:

    • Single users or instructors can export files directly using standard Android “Share” options or connect via USB to a laptop or cloud drive.

    • Operators running multiple cars simultaneously should install a dedicated WiFi network using access points (WiFi masts) connected to a router or NAS drive. This allows instant, automatic transfer of all video files to a central sales or control area.

  • A: For small sites with up to two cars, one or two access points are often enough.

    For larger pitlane or track environments with multiple cars, four to eight access points typically ensure complete coverage. The exact number depends on distance, signal range, and physical layout.

  • A: Phones are versatile, upgradeable, and retain resale value. Unlike fixed dash cameras or proprietary telemetry systems, approved Android phones can be reused, replaced, or repurposed easily — making ViewDrive a more affordable and future-proof solution for professional operators.

All hardware — including WiFi masts, routers, and NAS drives, is purchased separately.

File Export & Delivery FAQs

  • A: ViewDrive can export videos automatically or manually, depending on your setup.

    • Single users and instructors can easily share files directly from Android using the standard “Send” or “Share”options — via WiFi, USB, or any cloud drive. Smaller files can also be sent via WhatsApp or email, depending on file size limits.

    • Advanced users and driving experience operators can configure ViewDrive for automatic file transfer over a dedicated WiFi network to a PC, NAS, or sales-desk laptop. Files are delivered instantly after recording, ready for customer download or resale with no manual steps required. This setup is particularly useful for simultaneous file exports from multiple cars, ensuring a fast, streamlined workflow in high-volume environments.

  • A:

    • Single-device setups (e.g. instructors) usually export one file at a time, manually or through WiFi sharing.

    • Multi-car operations (e.g. driving experience centres) use a local WiFi mast network that connects several cars simultaneously. ViewDrive manages multiple uploads in parallel, automatically naming and routing files to a shared storage system for quick delivery.

    This means an instructor can operate entirely standalone, while a large-scale operator can run multiple sessions at once with zero manual handling.

  • A: Yes. ViewDrive supports QR or dot-matrix scanning to tag each video with the driver name, car ID, or session number. The app automatically prefixes filenames, making it easy to track customer sessions or specific vehicles.

  • A: Yes. On a network setup, ViewDrive can queue and upload multiple video files in parallel from several vehicles, optimising turnaround for busy pitlane or multi-car environments.

  • A: Absolutely. You can record and overlay telemetry data without any internet connection. Once WiFi or mobile data becomes available, ViewDrive automatically syncs and uploads pending files.

Tip for operators:

Single-car setups can use any WiFi or USB connection for export. Multi-car sites benefit from a dedicated WiFi network with masts and routers for fast, simultaneous uploads and automatic file management.
